How to Use the Tilapia Growth & Harvest Planner
Free. No sign-up. Works on your phone.
What it gives you
- Days until harvest and the estimated harvest date.
- Total biomass at harvest.
- Feed needed until harvest, in kilos and in 25, 20 or 10 kg sacks.
- A timeline of weight and feed at each step.
When will the fish be ready, and how much feed will it take to get them there? This free planner answers both from the weight of your fish today and the weight you want to harvest at.
How to use the Growth & Harvest, step by step
Open the tool
Go to arandcagriventures.com, tap Tilapia Tools, then choose Growth & Harvest.
Enter the current average weight
In grams, from your latest sampling.
Enter the harvest weight
The weight per fish you want to sell at.
Leave the daily gain blank, or type your own
Left blank, the tool uses a growth curve for tilapia: small fish gain slowly and big fish fast.
Enter the number of fish
This is optional, and it is what lets the tool work out the feed.
Tap Plan harvest
The result shows the date, the feed and the timeline.
The example in the video
| Current average weight | 50 g |
|---|---|
| Harvest weight | 300 g |
| Average daily gain | left blank |
| Number of fish | 2,300 |
| Until harvest | 78 days (11.1 weeks) |
|---|---|
| Total biomass at harvest | 690 kg |
| Average daily gain | 3.2 g a day |
| Feed needed until harvest | 863 kg (35 sacks of 25 kg) |
How to read the result
Growing from 50 g to 300 g takes about 78 days, averaging 3.2 g a day. For 2,300 fish that means 690 kg at harvest and 863 kg of feed at an FCR of 1.5, or 35 sacks of 25 kg. The figure assumes every fish survives, so buy a little under it if you expect losses. Sample every two weeks and update the plan.
