AR&C-SH1 is a saline hybrid tilapia bred at our hatchery in Banga, South Cotabato. It grows in ordinary freshwater ponds and keeps performing in brackish water of about 10–⁠20 PPT, where conventional freshwater tilapia can have difficulty thriving. It is the only strain we sell, so every sex-reversed fingerling that leaves our hatchery is saline-tolerant.

Proven inreal ponds

AR&C-SH1 is already grown in our customers’ brackish-water ponds, often alongside bangus or shrimp, as well as in freshwater ponds and cages. Because it tolerates roughly 10–⁠20 PPT, it opens up tilapia farming in brackish and coastal areas where conventional freshwater tilapia may have difficulty thriving.

Saline tilapia

What is saline tilapia?

Saline tilapia is tilapia that tolerates salty (brackish) water as well as fresh water. Ours is AR&C-SH1, a saline hybrid strain bred at our hatchery in Banga, South Cotabato.

Can tilapia live in brackish water?

Many freshwater tilapia struggle once the water turns brackish. AR&C-SH1 tolerates about 10–20 PPT, so it can be grown in brackish ponds. Full-strength seawater (around 35 PPT) is beyond that range.

What salinity can AR&C-SH1 handle?

About 10–20 PPT (parts per thousand). Change salinity gradually, and check it with a refractometer after every change.

Can I raise it with bangus or shrimp?

Yes. Our growers raise AR&C-SH1 in brackish ponds together with bangus or shrimp.

Does it grow in fresh water too?

Yes. AR&C-SH1 grows in ordinary freshwater ponds and in fish cages as well as in brackish water.

Are the saline tilapia fingerlings sex-reversed?

Yes. AR&C-SH1 is the only strain we sell, and all our fingerlings are sex-reversed (SRT).
